Another Fatal Hit and Run in Houston
Written by greg on December 31, 2012
Early this morning there was a fatal car accident on US 290 very close to the Jones Road intersection, in northwest Harris County. According to reports, a red Corvette crashed into her retaining wall and came to rest in a lane of traffic. The driver of the Corvette apparently got out of his vehicle and went to the shoulder of the road, but returned minutes later and was killed when a pickup truck rammed into the back of the already wrecked Corvette.
Officials indicate that the driver of the pickup fled the scene after pulling the pickup to the side of the road. The fatal accident happened about four in the morning on Monday. There is no indication whether or not alcohol was involved with this accident. Normally a full autopsy will take place for the deceased victim.
All of the westbound lanes of US 290 were closed pending the investigation of the accident and traffic was rerouted to feeder roads for at least five hours following the wreck. But the identity of the deceased victim is not known at this time. Authorities are investigating the identity of the hit and run driver.
