Every attorney has their favorite software and technology tricks to increase productivity. Funding software that is both easy-to-use and hopeful can be a powerful way to leverage your time for the benefit of your clients. Following are some software we have found helpful for attorneys who are on the OS X or iPhone platforms.
There remain practice management programs that are used by law firms on the Mac platform. All of these programs are cloud base and relatively easy to use with a small learning curve.
Clio– is a wonderful program that starts at $39.95 per user and is easy to use and also is very flexible. It is highly recommended program but we find the email integration wanting.
Rocket Matter-another cloud-based program that is full-featured and well thought of by many Mac using attorneys. Rocket matter seems to excel in billing and for any firm seeking integrated billing in case management rocket matter is worth a look. Prices start at $65 per month per user.
MyCase-probably the easiest program can learn and use is my case and it also happens to be the least expensive of the popular program starting at $39 per month for attorneys and $29 per paralegal or staff. Due to his full-featured and definitely worth a look.
Fantastical– we highly recommend this program for its in the ability to handle your calendar an intuitive and easy-to-use manner. The price is currently $39.95 and worth every penny. Calendar also syncs with major calendar program such as Google calendar.
Dropbox– other many other cloud storage options, the go to one seems to be dropbox. Dropbox provides a free option and inexpensive upgrades to store all of your documents and information to be available from any device. Recent security enhancements and also improve the service. Additionally, Dropbox has recently introduced Dropbox Paper which is designed to enable collaboration on documents within teams.
Dragon Dictation – if you are someone who is not particularly fast or accurate with your typing, Dragon can be a lifesaver. The learning curve is fairly short and increasing productivity for those who do not type well cannot be overstated. While the price may seem steep at $200, once you start using it you will agree it was money well spent.
Textexpander– the simple program makes it effortless to create typing shortcuts for such things as your signature, the date, and even whole form letters with just a few keystrokes. While the price may seem high at $45, the program is invaluable as a timesaver.
Apple Notes There are many different note taking applications all of which have strengths and weaknesses. Apple has made great advances with its recent changes to Notes and we recommend that you take another look at the updated program with its increased functionality.
