Buying a New Car – Check Its Safety Rating!
Written by Greg on October 24, 2014
The Insurance Institute For Highway Safety conducts crash tests to determine whether a vehicle meets their safety standards or not. The Institute looks at the crashworthiness of a vehicle and comes up with its top safety pick each year.
Choosing from the Top Safety Pick is a pretty good start to investigating whether a new car may be right for you or not.
By going to this website you can enter in your desired make and model number or select by vehicle type/size category.
Three recent full-size luxury vehicles were tested and the results varied. The Institute tested the infinity Q70, the Lincoln MKS and the BMW 5 series.
The infinity past with a good rating, the Lincoln got a lower rating and the BMW received a middle-of-the-road rating.
All of the crash test or explained but the simple explanation is if the vehicle gets a good safety rating probably a safe bet for you and your family. No cars perfect and selecting a car that has been crashed tested and achieved a good rating is a good first step in your research.
In the large luxury car category five vehicles have been awarded a Top Safety Pick for 2014, they are:
• Hyundai Genesis
• Mercedes E Class
• Volvo S80
• Acura RLX
• Infinity Q70
Check out the website and start your research before you purchase a new car. Safety in design and manufacture is an important component of value to the consumer.
