Written by Greg on November 5, 2013

The Houston Chronicle reported today a fatal accident involving a 44-year-old woman who was apparently hit by a pickup truck when she crossed into oncoming traffic.

The fatal crash occurred Monday afternoon about 4 PM in the 14000 block of Katy Hockley Road and was investigated by the Harris County Sheriff’s office.

According to reports, the deceased was driving a Chevrolet Impala when, according to witness reports to investigators, she crossed into oncoming traffic and was struck by a Ford F-250 pickup truck.

At the time of the Chronicle report, it is unknown what caused the vehicle to swerve into oncoming traffic as reported by witnesses.

Fortunately, the driver of the other vehicle did not sustain injuries known at the scene.

Great Number of Head-Ons When Vehicle Leaves Lane

There is a great number of head-on accidents and other crashes where a vehicle leaves a designated lane of traffic and moves out of their lane. In some instances, there is a issue with the vehicle, however in most cases there is something that causes a driver to lose attention to the runway ahead.

Very common causes of car crashes include:

* driver distraction

* texting or cell phone use

What caused this terrible tragedy is unknown at this time and could be any number of things. Our hearts go out to the family of the deceased.
